The new iPad
Mar. 14, 2012
It's now a year later and the hot news in electronics is the new iPad. There is also the Canon 5D Mark III that I'm looking forward to, but lets just focus on the iPad. With a Retina display, it is sure to turn some heads. However, here are a few things you should know.
16 GB may be too little this time around. The display is 4X the resolution of the iPad 2. Higher resolution textures, images, and videos used for games and apps will eat away any storage space quickly. If you were using more than 3/4 of the storage on your old iPad, you should consider moving up a level is storage for the new iPad.
You can't compare the retina display online; at least not so easily in screen captures and here's why. If a screen capture is taken of the Retina diaplay, it will be 4X the size of a screen capture of the older iPad display when viewed on the same resolution display (your monitor). However, if the new iPad screen capture is reduced in size (using whatever software) to that of the older iPad screen capture, then the image may become a little sharper and the shapness diaplayed depends on the software used to shrink the image. This sharpness is not the same as viewing the image on the higher density diaplay. Shrinking the image for a comparison essentially defeats the purpose of the comparison. The same applies when watching video comparisons, you are limited by the resolution of the monitor, not your eyes. The only way to truly see the difference is to see the new iPad in person with your own eyes.
If buying a new iPad online from eBay, be careful to ensure that you get what you are paying for. The new iPad looks very similar to the iPad 2. The box shows the new iPad with a bluish background. If you buy an opened box item, you'll want further proof. I can see people selling iPad 2s in iPad 3 boxes once this is released. Techies may catch on, but others will fall victim.

Thawed and Still Have My Mojo!
Apr. 17, 2011
It feels as though a century has passed since I wrote anything, but all
that will change since i now have a simplier means to update this site.
so what's hot these days? Tablet computers. When the iPad was released
many (including myself) claimed it to be a big iPod touch. A year later
and everyone is jumping in. While there are those who believe that these
devices are no better than a laptop, I'll admit that they have a good
point. However, the worth of the device is only as good as what it is
used for. If all you did with your laptop was browse the web, then
then these tablet computers would be an ideal replacement. Will they replace
laptops? Never! However, you may find yourself using your laptop a
lot less.

Fallen Angels
Mar. 18, 2008
We've all heard of fallen angels, and some people have even had the honor of being mistaken for one; how bizarre. Here's the question? Have you ever seen one? Most of these claims usually lack any sort of proof, and are hence quite unbelievable. Throughout the many years, I've remained a non-believer to these sightings... until now. I met an angel. If she isn't an angel, then that's what I'd imagine that an angel would look like. What proof do I have? Not even a shred. You just have to take my word for it. For like most, if not all, angels she's clearly within sight, but just out of reach.

There's A First Time For Everything
Mar. 16, 2008
After years of purchasing off-the-shelf PCs, I decided to build my next PC. Why? Just for the heck of it. Of course there are several benefits to be gained from building your own PC, but for me, the #1 reason was to gain the experience, and try something that I've never done before. But why stop there? After building comes overclocking, which is exactly what I did. I've posted an article in the Projects section that covers the experience from start to finish.

When Hell Freezes Over
Jan. 9, 2008
I'd say that its just about frozen. I moved all the way from Florida to Minnesota. I understood that it would be colder, but -30° Fahrenheit? Now that's cold. However, the problem really isn't that it gets cold, its that it stays cold for a long time. In any case, live, I shall. Adjust, I must.

I Finally Graduated
Aug. 21, 2007
After enduring long, exhausting, sleepless nights, I've finally completed my M.S. degree. Well, at least I hope so. I just need to see it in the mail before feeling comfortable. However, this end is only the beginning. In other news, I finally got an X360 after two long years of waiting.

I Am Finally Adding Some Content
Feb. 14, 2007
So today's Valentine's Day, and guess what? I don't have a valentine. But no sweat, it was expected. I also have a lot of work to do anyway... ok, sob story over.

The day has finally come to add some content to this site. Learning Fash is my top priority right now. Yes I need to work on my thesis, and I am, but thesis aside this is what I want to focus on. Once I get that down I'll most likely post a couple of animations in the interests section... once that's created. Anyway, off to work.
